Mozley, J. B.: - J.B. Mozley (1813 - 1878), educated at Oriel College, Oxford, was elected to a fellowship at Magdalen College in 1840. From the first he had taken a keen interest in the Oxford Movement, and after the secession of John Henry Newman in 1845 was for a long time one of its foremost representatives in Oxford. In time, his Tractarian beliefs became more moderate, though he remained a strong Churchman. His books include 'On the Primitive Doctrine of Baptismal Regeneration' and the Bampton Lectures on 'Miracles'. From 1871 until his death he was Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford.
