As I reflect back to the early days of our marriage, I know there was no way to know that someday alcoholism would enter our world. It didn't happen overnight, but moved in slowly. Meanwhile, I was deciding to stay - One day at a time. Over the years, prayer was my comfort - as laughter became the relief from the tears, listening to music became solace for my spirit, and writing the salve for my soul. In the Jungle called Alcoholism - the tears were many, the depressions deep, the frustrations unbearable at times, but we wouldn't have traded our good times for any other time on earth. So, I choose not to dwell on the thorns, but to pause and remember - A Tiger and all the Roses. I know living through it does not qualify me to make decisions for anyone else. Everyone's situation is unique to the addiction in their own lives.
