The Toppi Gallery: Harlots and Mercenaries by Sergio Toppi

The third book in the Toppi Gallery series features the master’s non-sequential, stand-alone illustration work (as opposed to his graphic novel stories featured in The Collected Toppi series). This volume focuses on themes of masculinity and femininity, showcasing images of soldiers and beautiful women from the artist’s fifty-year career in the field of illustration in many newspapers, magazines, and books worldwide. Featuring both black and white and full color works with captions and text about various subjects throughout.
Sergio Toppi was born in 1932 in Milan, Italy. He began his career in illustration working in advertising and working for the renowned Italian publisher Utet. His comics and graphic novel work spans decades, including work for such comics series as Linus, Corto Maltese, Un uomo un'avventura and Il Giornalino in Italy and l'Histoire de France en bandes dessinü¾Ž–”¼es and La Dü¾Ž–”¼couverte du Monde published by Larrousse in France. In recent years he has been published exclusively in Europe by the French publisher Editions Mosquito, including The Collector, winner of the Soleil D'Or prize for Best Series at the Soliü¾Ž†”¼s-Ville Festival. His art has been displayed in the Masters of the European Comic Book exhibit
