Treatise on Touch: Selected Poems by David Baker

Selection from all six of American poet David Baker's collections of poetry, all of which have met with critical acclaim in the US. With descriptions of the natural world alongside observations of the human condition, this collection is lyric poetry at its best. David Baker is a voice that will make itself heard in British literary circles.
"These beautifully-shaped poems are fuelled by a deep human desire to rescue the transient moment and memorialize feeling.." Edward Hirsch "David Baker's eye on nature is unblinking, and his observations delicate and accurate, but his eye on human intimacies and interactions is just as clear. For me, he is the most expansive and moving poet to come out of the American Midwest since James Wright." Marilyn Hacker "Baker writes with the distilled, distinguished attentiveness only the finest poets reliably command." Linda Gregerson"
DAVID BAKER was raised in Missouri and currently resides on a small acreage near Granville, Ohio. He serves as poetry editor of The Kenyon Review and teaches at Denison University and in the M.F.A. program for writers at Warren Wilson College. Author of six previous books of poems, he is the recipient of a number major literary awards and is widely known through literary magazines and journals where his poems and essays frequently appear. Treatise on Touch: Selected Poems is his first book to appear in the UK.
