Jack Jackson is a Texas history author and illustrator who has won numerous awards. The Texas State Historical Association awarded him the Bates Award for his most recent book, Almonte's Texas. His first book, El Mesteos Spanish Ranching in Texas, 1721-1821, is considered a classic work on Spanish ranching in Texas. It was published by Texas A&M University Press in 1986. Jackson is a resident of Austin.
