Under the Mishmash Trees by Dick King-Smith

A nonsense story about Og and Ut, the gombrizils, who make friends with Tumblerum Wollycobble, the slobbadunk. They cure his indigestion and he helps them hatch their egg and bring up their daughter, Okay. Now part of the family, Tumblerum watches Okay grow up and saves her life when a tree falls on her during a storm. Eventually Okay marries and Tumblerum hatches her eggs. They all live happily under the mishmash trees.
Dick King-Smith has been a farmer and a teacher. He still lives in Gloucestershire, where he was born. He is the author of THE SHEEP-PIG, winner of the Guardian Award and the book which inspired the blockbuster film, BABE. He was voted Children's Author of the Year in 1991, and is one of the best-loved children's authors of today.
