Understanding Obstetric Ultrasound by Jean Proud

Ultrasound is responsible for some of the major changes in the use of technology in obstetrics today. This book is a guide for practitioners wishing to undertake ultrasound scanning, now an integral part of antenatal care, as part of their midwifery practice. It provides an understanding of the potential of diagnostic ultrasound in obstetrics, its interpretattion and some of the constraints so that ultrasound can be used, when appropriate, to its full advantage. Written to introduce the use of ultrasound rather than describe the actual techniques, this book discuses the main applications and issues surrounding ultrasound in midwifery today.
Jean Proud was formerly a midwife teacher at Lakeland College and taught a Masters Degree course for Ultrasonographers at St Martin's College, Lancaster.
