She was nominated for a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award for urban fantasy in 2010, and she won the Pioneer Achievement Award that year. At science-fiction gatherings across the country, Elrod enjoys meeting readers. She has two dogs, Sasha and Megan, as well as an uncontrollable chocolate addiction. She resides on another planet, but for tax purposes, she retains a handy citizenship in the state of Texas.
