Little Man is a children's book for young boys of color. African American children, especially boys, are sometimes viewed as a threat or less than. Little Man goes against that narrative. The goal of this book is to celebrate boys of color, so they grow up realizing their uniqueness is what makes them beautiful.

Catherine Keene is a Visiting Associate Professor of Medieval History and Literature at Southern Methodist University in the United States, as well as the Interim Director of the Medieval Studies Program.
