She has won two Oregon Book Awards and a Willamette Writers Award, as well as being a nominee for the 2017 Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize and the 2012 Pen Center Creative Nonfiction Award. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she writes, teaches, and writes.
