Vermeer by Norbert Schneider
This volume contains reproductions of all 35 surviving paintings by Vermeer, most of which show women about their business. Vermeer records the tasks and duties of women, hinting at the imperatives of virtue under which their lives were lived.Norbert Schneider is an emeritus professor of Art History at Karlsruhe University. His study interests include art history from the Middle Ages to the early modern period (as well as the history of painting genres), art methods, and the history of philosophy. Among his many works are TASCHEN's Still Life and Vermeer.
