
Green, Bea: - Bea Green was born in Munich in 1925 and was one of the 10,000 Jewish children who came to England on the Kindertransport, where she arrived, aged 14, in June 1939. She started school at Neyland House High School in Kent, and then in 1942 went to University College London where she graduated in 1946 with BA Hons in Modern Languages. She then taught German and French at Clifton High School for Girls in Bristol and subsequently taught English in Lima, Peru at the Colegio Leon Pinelo. She returned to London in 1954 where she worked as a film sub-titler in French, Spanish and German. Bea, who has three sons, married Dr Michael Green, an economist in1957, following which they spent two years in Colombo, Sri Lanka, returning to the UK in 1959 where she spent 29 years as a senior lecturer in English for foreign business students at City of London Polytechnic. From 1975 to 1995 she was a Magistrate at Richmond Court, London. Bea is also the translator from German to English of Journey into the Unknown - the diary of holocaust survivor, Bertl Kaufmann
