YAHUDIT: A NOVEL is a coming-of-age story of Yahudit Kashiri, a seventeen-year-old modern orthodox Jew of Iranian descent living in Los Angeles. Yahudit, whose parents met at Stanford, try to provide a Jewish-centric identity for Yahudit, but she rebels. Yahudit begins to see the rifts in the family as she comes of age and realizes that the hardworking Hollywood boss father and a good Yiddish mama that her mother portrays herself out to be are not exactly what they seem. Yahudit meets a Mexican, named Carlos, who works at the kosher fast food place near her Hebrew Sunday school, and become romantically involved with him, much to the dismay of her Hebrew school friends.
