Die Waffen Nieder! by Bertha Von Suttner

Originally published in 1892, this early works is a fascinating novel of the period and still an interesting read today. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

Bertha von Suttner (1843-1914) was an Austrian pazifist, peace activist, and writer. She was the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905. Several cities in Austria and Germany keep their memories alive by renaming schools, parks, and streets, as well as renaming the Grazer Schönaubrücke to Bertha-von-Suttner-Friedensbrücke. Suttner's peace and abrüstungs demands drew widespread societal support across Europe. The reading of Die Waffen nieder inspired many people, like Helene Stöcker, to become peace activists.
