Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk by Wainwright Alfred
This is a guide to a walk devised in 1973, by A. Wainwright, over rights of way and areas of open access between the Irish Sea and the North Sea. The route passes through three national parks, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, providing a wide and varied range of scenery over a distance of 190 miles. The walk is described from west to east, the direction usually followed in order to have the prevailing weather coming from behind, although some walkers prefer to reverse the route and have the Lake District as a climax.A. Martin Wainwright is Associate Professor of History at the University of Akron
