Wasim One Star by Chris Ashley
Wasim wants to be a One Star swimmer. But when the day comes to take the plunge, Wasim's up to his neck in trouble before even dipping a toe in the pool. Swimming instructor Carol orders him out of the pool area for talking, and he was only trying to help the new boy, Wayne. Now Wasim will have to wait a whole term before he can try for his One Star again. Upset, Wasim watches from the sidelines but he finds himself in the right place at the right time when terrible danger looms for one of his classmates!
A wonderful story about doing the right thing! Wasim is a great new characterwww.bettybookmark.co.uk Entertaining... the story romps along with light-hearted demeanour. Scholastic Best Books of the Year 2007 A character that primary school children and teachers will recognise and respond to with pleasure... the blend of compulsive sporting drama with commonplace issues make ideal group readers for lower juniors. -- Kate Agnew Guardian
