Ways of Social Change by Garth M Massey

The author unpacks key recent events in history, such as the election of Barak Obama and the uprisings in Egypt that forced President Hosni Mubarak to step down. Not since the 1960s has there been such a time when students wanted and needed to understand social change. This text takes this desire for social change into the realm of social science where clarification, understanding, inquiry and involvement can help provide for both informed opinions and a path to effective engagement.
"This is the best text I have read in the area of social changeThe models and theories presented are well-chosen and well-presented, in enough depth to do them justice and still be understandable at the undergraduate level. Publish it fast; I'm ready to order it. It actually covers the topic of social change. Most texts in this area actually focus on social problems or on one particular model or facet of social change. Concepts are presented in depth but not drowned in technical or theoretical terms. It includes many wonderful examples and stories that help explain concepts and that my students will love reading." -- Anita S. Fream
