What is Clinical Psychology? by John S Marzillier

Clinical psychology is one of the fastest growing health care professions within the UK National Health Service, and is increasingly important in other parts of northern Europe and English-speaking countries. This book explains what clinical psychology is, and what clinical psychologists do, to a non-specialist but informed readership. It explains the conceptual framework which clinical psychologists adopt, the rationale behind their techniques, and uses detailed case studies and examples to illustrate their material. It provides further accessible reading and a glossary of terms, to introduce this growing area of work. The authors are all leading clinicians and researchers, and specialists in their fields. In line with previous editions, this third edition has been comprehensively revised and updated to take into account significant changes in the health care field. It also reflects the continued expansion of the profession of clinical psychology in the UK, Europe and elsewhere. A significant quantity of new material has been added including new chapters on clinical neuropsychology, physical disability and the work of the psychologist in general medical settings. Other significant new material covers changes to the training of clinical psychologists in the UK, psychological work with the severely mentally ill and developments in primary health care.
