White Work Embroidery by Barbara Dawson
Organized alphabetically, this is a guide to the different techniques used in white work embroidery. Drawn and pulled thread work are covered, as well as Ayrshire, broderie anglaise, cut work, hollie point, reticella, shadow work and many others. Dawson also discusses the fibres used in this work.
Barbara Dawson is Director of the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art Dublin. She secured Francis Bacon's Studio in 1998 and devised the strategy behind its removal and installation in the gallery in 2001.
