
Pavel Kohout was born in the Czech Republic in 1928. He was dismissed from the Communist Party and his work was banned for more than 20 years after leading the Prague Spring in 1968. He co-wrote the breakthrough freedom document Charta 77 with Vaclav Havel. I Am Snowing: The Confessions of a Woman of Prague, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, is his first book. Kohout spends time in both Vienna and Prague.
