Wild Plants of the Burren and Aran Islands by Charles Nelson

The Burren and Aran Islands are renowned worldwide for their beautiful wild flowers and plants. Charles Nelson has selected 120 of the most widely occurring plus a number of special plants. Each plant is illustrated by a colour photograph showing it in the wild.

Dr E. Charles Nelson F.L.S. V.M.M. was senior research botanist and horticultural taxonomist for twenty years at the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin. A recognised authority on Ireland’s gardens and plants, he was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Gold Veitch Memorial Medal in 2015 and the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland's Gold Medal of Honour in 2016 in recognition of his contribution to raising the profile of Ireland's plants and gardens.
