When Ursula Hermacinski earned Food & Wine Magazine's Golden Grape Award for refining the art of auctioneering, she was dubbed Goddess of the Gavel. She began her career at Christie's in New York, where she co-founded the Christie's New York wine department with Zachys in 1994. She struck out on her own in 1998, first igniting interest in online wine auctions and then becoming the world's first female auctioneer at the world-famous Napa Valley Wine Auction.
