The Wormdigger's Daughter by John Farrell
Molly and her husband Frank had been working on a large estate in Meath. Their child, Angel, was the focus of all their love and hope for the future. When they overheard a friend of the master of the estate lay claim to their daughter they left secretly in the dead of night, but were then falsely accused of stealing and forced to become fugitives.
John Farrell was born near Navan, County Meath. The youngest of fourteen children, his family were from a labouring background and as a teenager John worked in the town as a messenger boy. The Wormdigger's Daughter is based on a true story that has lived with him ever since it was first told to him by the travelling couple in their roadside tent.
