The Worst Journey in the World by Apsley Cherry-Garrard
A beautiful, fully illustated edition of Apsley Cherry-Garrard's wonderful record of the Worst Journey in the World. Cherry-Garrard does describe Scott's unsucessful attempt to be to first person to the South Pole, but this is not the worst journey. This is the complete book--Volumes I and II and glossary.Apsley Cherry-Garrard (1886-1959) was an Englishman who attended Oxford University. He was one of Scott's British Antarctic Expedition's youngest members, at the age of twenty-four. He remained in the navy until 1915, when he was invalided out, and during his recuperation he began writing The Worst Trip in the World. Wilson of the Antarctic (1933) and Life of Bowers (1938) both have introductory chapters written by him.
