JAY LAKE is an artist who lives and works in Portland, Oregon, near an 11,000-foot volcano. He has almost 200 short stories, four collections, and a chapbook to his credit, as well as novels from Tor Books, Night Shade Books, and Fairwood Press. Lake is also the co-editor of Wheatland Press's critically acclaimed Polyphony anthology series with Deborah Layne. Lake got the John W. Wooden Award in 2004.
