The Houston Chronicle's cartoonist of record is Nick Anderson. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2005. Anderson also won the Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists in 2000, the Fischetti Prize in 1999, and first-place honors for editorial cartooning in the Best of Gannett Awards in 1996, 1997, and 1999, in addition to the Pulitzer. He was awarded the Charles M. Russell Prize in 1989. The Charles M. Schulz Prize is given to the outstanding college cartoonist. Newsweek, the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, and other publications have featured Anderson's cartoons.
