Your Red Shoes by John Hutton

Winner of:

Nominee: Foreword Reviews 2014 INDIEFAB Book of the Year, Picture Books
An ode to growing up, this read-aloud book commemorates the first pair of shoes a child owns and the many memories created while they walk in them.

I tied your red shoes for you today.
Where will you go in them?
How many steps will you take?
So many since the first.
Was it yesterday or long ago?

A celebration of early childhood, this book highlights the many steps a toddler takes: from the initial wobbly ones and stopping in puddles to walking in the park and the all-too-soon day when that first, beloved pair of shoes no longer fit. The lush watercolors and rhythmic, evocative text document each proud moment, while reinforcing universal themes of independence, exploration, and unconditional love.
"Your Red Shoes is a gentle, heartwarming story perfect to read aloud and share with little onesSoft, watercolor and pencil artwork complements the simple story about a young girl taking steps toward independence. Highly recommended, ages 2-7." -- James A. Cox, Midwest Book Review
"This is a sweet book, a book that talks to the child like a bedtime story in its quietness and simplicity, asking what adventures your red shoes will take you on. If you're at all nostalgic, this is a sweet book to share with your little one." -- Denise Barker, weesied.blogspot.com
"This is the special kind of book that tugs at your heartstrings. The words and images have a lasting effect, especially if you have experienced this bond between yourself and a child." -- Juliana Lee, julianaleewriter.com
"The wonderful journey of growing up, step by step, is told here with rich color. Each page is a beautiful and seamless part of the whole. A lovely book that will stand up to countless readings -- a book to keep!" -- Louside Borden, author, The Journey That Saved Curious George
