It covers the basics of: rocks and minerals; internal and surface processes; resources; waste disposal and pollution; and other special topics. A new chapter to this edition discusses the impact of climate change, the greenhouse effect, past and future climates and global warming. The beginning chapter has been revised and there is increased coverage of earthquakes and and forecasting. Appendices on maps and satellite imagery give students information on how to read topographic maps and interpret satellite imagery.
