About Charles F. Spence

Charles F. Spence (Gaithersburg, MD), a pilot since 1954, is a veteran of aviation public relations and publishing. After a newspaper career, he was promotion manager of Flying magazine, assistant director of the Utility Airplane Council of Aerospace Industries Association and spent 15 years as Senior Vice President of Public Relations for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). He currently is Washington correspondent for Flyer and writes freelance articles for other publications. Spence has been AIM/FAR editor since 1996.
