About Dan Waddell

Dan Waddell started his writing career selling stories to the tabloids before becoming a sports writer for BBC books. He is a keen genealogist and is the author of Who Do You Think You Are? Be a Family Tree Detective (ISBN 9781406327885), and two further TV tie-in books for the hit BBC TV series of the same name. He has recently published two genealogy-related crime novels, The Blood Atonement and The Blood Detective. This is his second book for children. Dan lives in London, W4. Jim Smith's witty style is inspired by cartoonists from around the world and drink cans from the 1980s. As a child he wanted to be an illustrator and has always pictured himself at a big desk with pots of pens, designing something and he went on to study graphic design, illustration and advertising at Buckinghamshire College. If he wasn't an illustrator, he would like to work in a big wooden greenhouse. Jim lives and works in London surrounded by lots of books and objects and plants.
