Heroes and Heroines by Eleanor Farjeon

Heroes and Heroines was first published in 1933, and features the same style of witty and lyrical poems as Kings and Queens of England. It tells of the deeds of heroes and heroines from all round the world including Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Robin Hood, Christopher Columbus, Sir Francis Drake, George Washington, Napoleon, Florence Nightingale and Buffalo Bill, among others. Both books present a fun and original way for children to learn history.

About Eleanor Farjeon

Eleanor Farjeon (1881 -1965) was a writer and poet and playwright. Whilst best known for her children's verse and stories she was also a regular contributor to Punch Magazine (1914-17), and wrote the words of the popular Hymn 'Morning has Broken'. Herbert Farjeon (1887-1945) was a dramatic critic, writer, playwright, theatre manager, and theatre researcher. He was the brother of Eleanor Farjeon.
