When he first acquired Hidcote, he had nothing as a basis to his garden except one fine cedar tree and two groups of beeches. Hidcote Manor Gardens in Gloustershire is now owned by the National Trust. Ethne Clarke tells the history of the making of Hidcote garden and reveals material about Lawrence Johnston.
