Based on the children's TV series on the BBC, this book introduces archaeology to the younger reader. Each section takes a different site somewhere in the British Isles, ranging in date from the Stone Age to the Industrial Revolution, and explains what was going on there, what life was like - and how we know. As well as the history, some of the methods and techniques of archaeology are clearly explained. Included among the illustrations are many of the colour reconstructions drawn specially for the series.
