Sticky Assessment Summary

Sticky Assessment: Classroom Strategies to Amplify Student Learning by Laura Greenstein (University of Connecticut, USA)

Sticky Assessment is a straightforward guide to assessment, designed to demystify assessment and to give teachers the tools they need become better assessors. Translating the latest research into a concise and practical volume, this book helps teachers to monitor student learning, make assessment engaging and meaningful for students, and to use assessment that improves rather than merely measures learning outcomes. With examples from classroom teachers and exercises designed to help teachers think through their processes, this book will be an invaluable and lasting resource for classroom teachers.

Sticky Assessment Reviews

With a multitude of engaging and realistic classroom examples, Greenstein uses contemporary research extensively to show how teachers can plan and implement effective assessment. Her emphasis on the integration of assessment with teaching throughout the text illustrates in practical language how teachers can use assessment to enhance student learning and motivation, and her engaging, non-technical writing style concisely captures all critical components of the assessment process.

James H. McMillan, Professor, Foundations of Education, Virginia Commonwealth University

Sticky Assessment will help educators understand assessment as a useful tool to not only measure data but actually improve student learning! Greenstein presents assessment as a process that any teacher could implement in their classroom, without fear of losing the fun of learning.

Jessica Bennett, 8th Grade Language Arts Teacher, Brookpark Middle School, Grove City, Ohio
