Despite her parent's urgings that hairdressing is not a 'respectable' trade, Kacie Cooper has become the best and most well-loved hair-stylist at Verna Kozlowski's Leicester salon. Her parents are also unhappy with Kacie's choice of husband - Dennis, an irrepressible wannabe popstar - wishing instead that she'd picked a more suitable man like her sister Caroline's husband, Malcolm. But when Caroline turns up on Kacie's doorstep, saying she's left Malcolm and asking to stay for a while, Kacie knows that trouble is on the way.
