About Patricia Mears

Cathy Horyn is an American fashion journalist, working as a critic for The New York Times where she also keeps a highly noted blog called "Cn The Runway." During the course of her career, Cathy has worked for, among others, Vanity Fair, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Diane von Furstenberg a Belgian-born fashion designer began designing women's clothes in 1970. She is best known for introducing the knitted jersey "wrap-dress" in 1973, an example of which, for its influence on women's fashion, is in the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2005, the CFDA awarded her a lifetime achievement award and the following year named her president. Patricia Mears is deputy director at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She is the author to many books, including; Madame Gras: Spinx of Fashion, American Beauty: Aesthetics and lnnocation in Fashion, Skin + Bones: Parallel Practices in Fahsion and co-author to many other titles.
