Born in South Africa, from where he came to England before moving to Jamaica, Peter Abrahams is the author of many novels and the famous autobiography Tell Freedom. His work has always concerned itself with the human dimension to history and politics. His major novel The View from Coyoba, published in 1985, was widely acknowledged as the crowning achievement of his literary career.
