The Starting History series offers young readers an introduction to history and aims to meet the requirements of ATs 1, 3 and 4 of the National History Curriculum for Key Stage 1. Aided by historical and contemporary photographs, the series discusses how life in Britain has changed since 1930 and invites readers to make comparisons with their own experiences. It also encourages them to further their understanding of the past by talking to older relatives. This volume examines the changes in the way people dress. The subject of clothes is treated thematically rather than chronologically, so that readers can see that different types of dress are worn in different situations and that all types of clothes have undergone changes.
