Educating and Entertaining Your Children Online by Simon Lovesey
This book is the complete educational resource book for parents or other people caring for children. It has been estimated that around 4 million families have access to the Internet, with a relatively small proportion of those families having the confidence to use the technology to its full potential. A large part of the content is devoted to education. This is split into two parts - one that focuses on information specifically for the parent: choosing a school, what happens at school, government information and so on. The second part is more practical and is where the parent can work with their child, using the book to locate all the best resources, factsheets and other downloads. A third section covers leisure. This lists groups and organisations that will be of interest to the parent or child, listing activities and hobbies to occupy and educate the child. In the fourth section more topical issues are covered, offering the parent guidance on where they can find information on various issues such as bullying, drugs awareness, special needs such as autism, ADD etc. The final section is a directory of key web sites. All those mentioned throughout the book will be included, along with others that are recommended and definitely worth a mention. This section also offers some information not directly covered in the text such as web sites linked to health and development, and areas such as charitable organisations aimed at children.
