He is the 2010 recipient of the Robert and Helen Lynd Award for Distinguished Career Achievement from the American Sociological Association.
Ray Hutchison is professor of sociology in the Department of Public and Environmental Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Santander Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences at the New University of Lisbon. He is series editor of Research in Urban Sociology and senior editor of the forthcoming three-volume Encyclopedia of Urban Studies.
Michael T. Ryan is a retired professor of sociology at Dodge City Community College. He has five entries in Blackwell's Encyclopedia of Sociology, four entries in Blackwell's The Concise Encyclopedia of Sociology, and one entry each in Sage's Encyclopedia of Urban Studies and Blackwell's Encyclopedia of Consumption and Consumer Studies.
