Eric was born in San Francisco and relocated to West Lafayette, Indiana with his family in 1965, where his father was a biochemistry professor at Purdue University. Eric earned a master's degree in finance from Purdue University in 1981. He and his wife Donna live in Clearwater, Florida, where he works as a full-time bridge professional.
