Franz Wohlfahrt (1833-1884) was a violin teacher in Leipzig, Germany. His famous 40 Elementary Studies for Violin, Op. 54 are still widely used by violin and viola students and provide further variety and bowing combinations from the 60 Studies. Among the usual détaché numbers there are more legato studies here, with more dotted rhythms, including a study in Mazurka style.

Franz Wohlfahrt (1833-84) was a native and lifelong resident of Leipzig, Germany, where he studied with Ferdinand David, one of the world's best violinists. Sixty Studies for the Violin by Wohlfahrt, Op. From the 19th to the 21st centuries, the 45 has remained a mainstay of the violinist's curriculum.
