40oz Comics, for the first time in one handsome collection! Hot indy artist Jim Mahfood (Clerks, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Grrl Scouts: Work Sucks) brings you this collection of his underground 40oz mini-comics. Featuring short stories starring Mahfood's most popular characters: the Grrl Scouts, Zombie Kid, Rocket Boy, and that lovable minister of funk, Smoke Dog! All the mini-comics are printed here in their entirety, and we've thrown in 20 pages of bonus material! This collection also features pin-ups and guest art from Andi Watson, Scott Morse, Mike Huddleston, and Steve Willaredt.
Jim Mahfood is an American comic book creator born in St Louis, Missouri. Apart from his creator-owned comic book series Grrl Scouts and his comic strip Stupid Comics (which appears weekly in the Phoenix New Times) he also did work for Marvel Comics on various Spider-Man titles, including Ultimate Marvel Team-Up and Spectacular Spider-Man. His big break came when Oni Press hired him to illustrate two comic books based on Kevin Smith's movie Clerks from scripts by Smith, following his work on Marvel Comics Generation X Underground Special. Dan Abnett is a British comic book writer and novelist. He is a frequent collaborator with fellow writer Andy Lanning, and is known for his work on books for both Marvel Comics, and their UK imprint, Marvel UK, since the 1990s, and also 2000 AD. He has also contributed to DC Comics titles, and his Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 novels and graphic novels for Games Workshop's Black Library now run to several dozen titles and have sold over 1,150,000 copies as of May 2008. In 2009 he released his first original fiction novels through Angry Robot books. Federico Dallochio is an Argentinian artist whose work has appeared in DC Comics (Suicide Squad, Green Arrow, Batman, JLA, Insurgent), Wildstorm (Starcraft, Call of Duty), Marvel (Siege: Captain America) and Dark Horse (Star Wars: Knight Errant). Although he was born in Washington D.C., Nathan Fox grew up mostly in Houston. He graduated the Kansas City Art Institute in 1997. After failing to get a satisfactory job, he and his wife moved to N.Y.C., where he continued his education. Shortly thereafter, his work began appearing in such popular publications as The New York Times, the New York Times Magazine, Interview, The New Yorker, and Rolling Stone. He now lives in Kansas City with his wife and two daughters.
