In addition, he is the Charles Simonyi Professor of Teaching Innovation. After getting his Ph.D., he went on to become a professor. Dr. Roberts developed and directed the computer science department at Wellesley College after receiving his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University in 1980. He then worked for Digital Equipment Corporation's Systems Research Center in Palo Alto, California, for five years as a researcher.
