Dave Macleod, who was born in Princeton, New Jersey, to Canadian parents, was aware of the cultural contrasts between the two countries from an early age. In 1975, he traveled to Canada to study forestry, and in his leisure time, he taught himself how to make crossword puzzles. His puzzles have featured in publications such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and others. Dave lives in Nelson, British Columbia.
