Adam Sobel is a world-renowned expert on extreme weather and climate change. He has published over a hundred articles in peer-reviewed journals and has received numerous honors, including the David and Lucile Packard Fellowship, the American Meteorological Society's Meisinger Prize, the AXA Award for Climate and Extreme Weather, and the American Geophysical Union's Ascent Award. Sobel holds a tenured professorship at Columbia University in the departments of Earth and Environmental Sciences, as well as Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics, where he got his PhD in meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In New York City, he lives with his wife and two sons.
