The front cover has been redesigned to include a list of the towns featured in the new area of coverage, a revised map extract and a circular symbol with the words 'LIVERPOOL LARGE SCALE CITY CENTRE'. The back cover now features a Rail Connections map. The revised Key Map on pages 2-3 shows the new area of coverage which has been extended in many areas but does not now include Warrington. The number of street map pages has increased from 159 to 172. A more open type face has been used in the street index section for better legibility and selected places of interest are now included in bold italic type. The index section has increased from 78 to 89 pages. The total content of the atlas has increased from 240 to 262 pages. New large scale mapping at 6 inches to 1 mile of Liverpool City Centre is featured on pages 4-5. The street mapping is now based upon the National Grid, the values of which are shown around the map page edges. The Contents and Reference panel on page 1 shows a new colour scheme that depicts important buildings with different colour infills e.g. educational establishments have an orange infill and hospitals and hospices have a green infill. Roads that have restricted access are shown with a purple infill and pedestrianized roads have a pink infill. Fire Stations and Post Offices are now shown by red squares and stars respectively, while Police Stations are represented by a blue triangle. Parking symbols are shown in blue. The scale is shown in metric as well as imperial.
