Saladin Ahmed is an Eisner Award-winning American comic book and science fiction and fantasy writer who was born on October 4, 1975. Throne of the Crescent Moon, which he published in 2012, was nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Novel and won the Locus Award for Best First Novel. He's also been a finalist for the John W. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's John W. and Catherine T. MacArt The Campbell Award, the Nebula Award for Best Novel, and the Nebula Award for Best Short Story are three of the most prestigious awards in science fiction. Ahmed's fiction has appeared in collections and publications such as Strange Horizons, Orson Scott Card's InterGalactic Medicine Show, Clockwork Phoenix 2, and Beyond Ceaseless Skies, among others. He's also the creator of Marvel Comics' Black Bolt, Exiles, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man.
