About Face by David Jury

The basic rules of typography are introduced within the context of current electronic information technology, which has made some rules obsolete. However, typography remains a fundamental element of graphic design, and the basics required by all graphic designers are presented here.

David Jury is the author of a number of books including New Typographic Design (Laurence King), Graphic Design Before Graphic Designers (Thames and Hudson), Letterpress: ?The Allure of the Handmade (RotoVision), and numerous articles on typography, printing, and graphic design. From 1996 to 2006 he was the editor of TypoGraphic (the journal of the International Society of Typographic Designers). Jury also designs, prints, and publishes limited edition letterpress books for his own Fox Ash Studio Press, many of which are in public collections including the Yale Centre for British Art, USA, and the Museum Van Het Boek, Holland. He was course leader of MA studies in 'Art, Design, and the Book' at Colchester School of Art from 2007 to 2012, and currently teaches 'Typographic Enquiry' on the MA Typography course at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.
