At Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, USA, Neil J. Anderson is a Humanities Professor of Linguistics and English Language. He also works as the English Language Center's Coordinator. Professor Anderson has lectured and given workshops in more than 20 countries. ELT leadership, second language reading, and language learning methodologies are among his research interests. He is the author of Exploring Second Language Reading: Problems and Strategies (1999, Heinle Cengage), a teacher education work in the TeacherSource series, and the EFL reading series ACTIVE Skills for Reading (2007/2008, Heinle Cengage).

He's also the author of the Heinle Cengage book ELT Advantage: Reading Online Professional Development (2006, Heinle Cengage). He was a Fulbright Scholar in Costa Rica from 2002 to 2003, undertaking research and teaching. Professor Anderson led the International Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. as its President. He was also the Chair of the International Research Foundation for English Language Education's Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2006.
